Dear users,
we are sorry to inform you, that we had to end development of our FurryBall after almost ten years!
We will give FurryBall for free to all users, but without any Maintenace and Support.
Because we have to keep our servers working, we have set the symbolic price 29,- EUR per year.
Hope you will understand us and keep using FurryBall if it fits you.
Thanks for all those nice years with GPU rendering.
Your FurryBall team

Hello,

i have a scene that crashes every time if i use too many furs per
clump. If i have 35 per clump i get no crash, but if i use 40 per
clump i get a maya hard crash.

Both the RAM and the VRAM are way far from full while rendering.
If i hide all other objects in the scene, i can easily render with 100
hairs per clump.

Does fur rendering write to the discs even if the RAM/VRAM is not
full?

I am rendering on a GTX1070 8GB and the computer has got 32 GB
RAM.

Yes, this can happened when you are building difficult rendering structures.
Try in the settings change GPU acceleration structure to CPU.

If it works in empty scene the problem is definitely in the memory, because when it build structure of difficult object, there is HUGE memory peak for the moment. Try some utility to see GPU memory.

BTW are you talking about Maya Hair, or Shave? Maya fur is not supported..

Ah thanks i will try changing the acc structure to cpu to see if it helps.

The scenes works fine without the fur, i will upload the image to your credit system
within a few days.

I am using the EVGA utility to check VRAM useagem it never goes above 3GB. Where
can i find the furryball log file?

I am using maya nHair.

Yes now it worked, the fur in question was used for the green cloth.

You should have a field for the image name when uploading an image
through your credit system.

As in this case i would like to call the image "Eightball" by TREDE Visualization

Many thanks.

Thanks for the great image you sent us over our credit system.

But there is not visible in printscreet, that you used FurryBall.
Please can you send us printscreen, where is visible FurryBall nodes?
Otherwise we can’t use it.

Thanks
