Dear users,
we are sorry to inform you, that we had to end development of our FurryBall after almost ten years!
We will give FurryBall for free to all users, but without any Maintenace and Support.
Because we have to keep our servers working, we have set the symbolic price 29,- EUR per year.
Hope you will understand us and keep using FurryBall if it fits you.
Thanks for all those nice years with GPU rendering.
Your FurryBall team

Hi....I have recently started re-using FurryBall again and after a re-installation all seemed to be working well..till yesterday afternoon.
Now my system is rendering in the viewport but fails to render out..as a single frame or in animation mode.. I get //line 1: Render failed at the bottom of the screen.
See below the maya output window : (kFailure) Unexpected Internal Failure.

I am using a default render setting for testing.

I did re-install yesterday evening before these tests.

Playblast is working ok...

I am using a Nividia GeForce 1080Ti. Other computer info see below.

Posted this on wrong forum..sorry.

Hi I'm not sure I understand your problem well.
Your playblast is working (viewport or IPR), but not render to file?

What Maya version and what file type are you using?
Did you tried just simple sphere to PNG?

Hi.. I am using maya 2016. I have been rendering out to jpeg with no problems up till the day before yesterday..I have been using simplest scene like you suggest to test and just tried with PNC just now with no success..
And yes to confirm it is rendering in the viewport but not to file..

Just to confirm.. I make a QT playblast from the timeline creating a movie file I can edit with.

When I try to render out with FB I get 'render failure" message.

But I can see the render the image of my current frame in the viewport in the normal way.

Thanks
Nic

So it looks like no FurryBall problem - FurryBall use for save files Windows common libraries for specific file types. The problem is definitely somewhere in Windows or in some other application, which could destroy those libraries with some installation etc.
Try FurryBall standalone.

I think I found the answer..and I think it is a FB thing...
I noticed that whilst the program was trying to render it would mention syntax error.
Then I tried stand alone and found that I had to make sure I had no blank spaces in the file naming... So I tried this also on the in maya rendering and it seems to be working ok now.. I'm sure a little something must have changed because I never used to fuss about this..Oh well it's working now so that's what important.
