Just downloaded FurryBall, and tinkering about with it and I had the following issues..they may be graphics card related but I wanted to raise them anyway.

1. Area Lights and Geomery (Mesh) light sources do not render any shadows.
2. The following workflow does not seem to create FurryBall hair (or any FurryBall objects in the Outliner) despite the success message indicated in the MEL script editor ie 'Connecting FurryBall hair shapes to Maya hair follicles...Hair system was successfully reconnected'

Workflow:
Create Nurbs Curves
nHair > Assign New Hair System > New Hair System
Select the hairSystem and Follicles (and everything else...related to the hair?)
FurryBall > Hair > Connect to Follicles

Incidentally; the following workflow does work!
Select Mesh
Create nHair
Select Geometry
FurryBall > Hair > Create Hair

Cheers
